A born reggae artist,  Jah Kettle otherwise known as Peter Braimbridge was born in Kingston Jamaica in the inner city community of Trench Town where he lived until the age of ten years old.

His father known as Oscar Braimbridge,  was well known as a musician and was the drummer in Lord Jellico's Band since the early 60's. He toured with the band to England, America, Peru, and other countries playing ska.

Kettle moved to Mandeville with his parents in the 1980's where he attended school. He started out at Bellfield Secondary and then Mandeville All-age School. While in school Kettle participated in concerts and stage shows that would occasionally occur at school. Of course he would star in them. It was natural for him to take part and perform because he was a natural entertainer this was well known among his classmates and he was admired for his accomplishments growing up as a youth. The students and his friends would applaud and be happy at his performances. people would say "yu have talent bwoy". He was very popular with the parents as well. They would tell his parents "you should start a career in singing for your son". and of course he took those words seriously and never forgot them.

After school he left with a positive mind and a focused heart. Kettle started taking steps towards his career goals, where he would visit dances and deejay on sounds. He first deejayed on some sounds called Crystal Rock, Black Starliner, and Wha Dat with various artistes like: Uton Green, Bimbo also known as Garnet Silk, Tony Rebel, and General Degree and many more artistes. After this experience and exposure Kettle wanted more status in the music industry. He decided to push harder and gain his independence and a more central role in his career path . He then left Mandeville where he spent most of his time of his childhood growing up to Journey back to Kingston in 1996 to start recording more of his songs. he started working out of Cave Man Studio, Sound System and also Penthouse. Thats where he met with the Trench Town Rock Promotion.  His first release with them was titled "Bigger Problem Pon The Bigger Heads Dem".  And also recorded for JR Records (Junior Reid Promotion) Releasing the single "Who's gonna be my lady"  He quickly followed up on his success with two more singles "Hail Life" and "Me and Jah Over a Par" they were also great tracks for him.
